WHY JOIN US? - We are you and all around you. One in three to ten people everywhere has a hearing loss, depending on the age group. Being with others who understand is relaxing, supportive, and we learn a lot from each other. If you are hearing, we welcome you also! We love to talk. 

Our online dicussions and in-person events offer information and support also. We advocate and educate important Maine State agencies and departments to provide us with more resources for healthy living, even with hearing loss!

Sponsors Circle for a donation of $151 to 399 – Become an ALDA-Maine Sponsor for one year. You are welcome to all meetings, invited to plan a presentation with us if you wish, we will distribute your literature at other meetings during the year, and we link to your website.You will be invited to consider joining our Board of Advisors. Angels Circle for donation of $400 to 1000 – Become an ALDA-Maine Angel for one year. Your benefits are all of the above, and we honor your special participation with a heavenly annual dinner at a member’s home or fine local restaurant. DUES AND ALL DONATIONS GO TO ALDA-MAINE ACTIVITIES ONLY. There are no salaries, wages, nor benefits. We are all volunteers. Our primary expense is Captioning for equal communication access for deafened and hard of hearing people. Our other goal this year is to establish the ALDA-Maine endowment that will create a sustainable association advocating for hard of hearing and deafened people in all of Maine for many future years. This population is growing. An endowment of 10,000 dollars, a small amount compared to many other nonprofits, will ensure that interest from that account will provides captioning and continued meetings for information and support for members, families, and friends.
